Stokke Tripp Trapp

When buying a high chair the most important think to think about is ergonomic seating positions for self feeding! I think personally, especially if you're planning on BLW, the Tripp Trapp is super worth it especially used off fb. There are knock offs though that get the same job done! As long as there is a sturdy upright backrest, (most importantly) adjustable foot rest to get a 90 degree angle on their legs, and a firm flat-ish seat you're good to go! I'd never use the slouchy buckety seats of traditional high chairs that we all grew up with but everyone has to do what works for them !  Another couple of praises for the tripp trapp, it's strong enough for an adult to sit on when you have company, the kids can stand on it as a stool, it's super super adjustable for just the right height, super easy to clean because it's just all flat wood, DOES NOT TIP OVER when they kick the table which is a huge thing if you have a crazy toddler, and it looks nice pushed up to the table like they have a real chair rather than a clunky chunky plastic thing! And I'm planning on them being cool looking desk chairs for their rooms when they're older so it definitely has potential for a long and sentimental life with you. 

1000% worth getting the Stokke Tripp Trapp! There are always secondhand versions on fb marketplace/OfferUp (we found ours for $50 and then ordered the tray/baby set separately). It lasts a long time and grows with your baby, can even be used by adults. The adjustable foot rest is important for eating in a safe position.

I love mine, I have 2. My 4 year old still sits in it for meals, and it will continue to grow with him until he can fit comfortably in an adult chair. He can get in and out completely independently and it's ergonomic for him and easy to clean.

Yes! We have one for our first child, and we're going to buy another one for the next baby, who is due this summer. The age gap between them will be approximately 21 months. We never bought the tray because we always planned to pull the baby right up to the table so we could have meals together, and it's worked really well. We won't need to get any of the accessories this time because the toddler is ready to use the chair on its own. We technically could just move the toddler to a regular chair or bench with a booster or have him sit in his (Guzzie and Gus) travel high chair at home, but it's so much easier for him to reach the table in the Tripp Trapp, and I like that the footrest is always at the right height. It's also nice that the Tripp Trapp can be used for adults, so it can provide extra seating if you ever need that. If the cost is making you hesitant about buying a Tripp Trapp, and you're not picky about the color, you may be able to save money by buying one secondhand (they hold up very well). Yep! Our daughter is 4 and still uses her Tripp Trapp to eat in and to do activities at the table. That thing paid for itself a loooong time ago.

Yes it is. And the child can use it for years. Also it has a nice baby module the newborn can be in as well as extra modules for the toddler. Love ours. But I'm also scandinavian 😅

Love my Tripp Trapp. I dunno what everyone's (on other threads) issue is cleaning it, it seems pretty easy since it's just flat wood?? I have the padded baby bits, I throw them in the wash when they get bad. I wash the tray after he eats and the baby set and straps maybe once every week or two, just in my sink with a sponge and Dawn. The Catchy is LIFESAVING. I have a 99th %ile baby so I liked that it has a near-infinite weight limit.

Agreed! Still happily using our Tripp Trapp multiple times a day with our nearly 3 year old. He's gone through the infant and baby attachments and now just uses it as a chair. I find it very easy to clean, and it looks nice in our dining room alongside our other chairs. Aside from our crib, it is by far the single "baby" item that has gotten the most frequent and consistent use for our son's entire life!

Obsessed with our Tripp Trapp. If it is the right height for your table, it's the ideal. Used it daily from 6 months through to 18 months. It is flexible, you can use the tray or not use the tray. We preferred no tray and baby always at the table like a family member. This helped with transitioning to restaurants.

So i have a tripp trapp for my 8 month old. I was never in doubt about it. They are great chairs and incredibly durable. I had a tripp trapp myself as a kid. I am the youngest of 5 siblings and we had 2 tripp trapps that went through all of us. My parents kept one and that chair is still in great condition and my baby uses it when we visit. It will be used there for all their grandkids. If you have two kids close in age you might wanna invest in 2 of them (i intend to do this) but you can ofc just move out your oldest to a regular chair or chair with a booster.

We have the Tripp trapp and it's expensive but we're still using it at age 5. You do need to buy the baby set when they're little but you don't need to buy a tray because normally you would use it right at the table. The height of the seat and footrests are adjustable. And after the child gets older, you take the baby set off and it becomes a chair they can sit on at the table with everyone. It can even be used by adults.

Love the Tripp Trapp so much I bought a second pretty much as soon as I knew I was having another baby 😅 The newborn set was surprisingly worth it.

We're going on 3 years with ours and no plans to stop any time soon. Once converted to a regular chair, it can be used through adulthood. Originally we planned to pass it down to younger siblings but my kiddo is very territorial over "her" chair (in a cute way, she loves it) so we ended up just buying another for our second child.

I seriously considered buying a second Tripp trapp with our second. It's a great chair. 10/10 worth it. We just moved our almost 3yo to a booster. But he would've kept using the Tripp trapp as a chair indefinitely I think.

Lots of people love this chair, especially because it grows with your child so you can use it for years. This post attracted the haters lol. I absolutely love my Tripp trapp because of the newborn attachment, so my little baby can sit up at the table with us.

Love our Tripp Trapp. He still uses it right now at 3.5 without the harness, so it's been 3 years. We have a Catchy on it so it makes post meal cleanup a breeze.

The newborn attachment was the single best thing I bought for my second baby. Meal times were actually enjoyable for the first ~5 months.

I love our Tripp Trapp. My baby went from propped between my legs to sitting fully independently in like a week so we skipped all the inserts. I just wipe the chair off after meals and give it a more thorough wipe down in the evening after dinner.

Our 18 month old already prefers to stand at his toddler tower or sit on our regular chairs or bench at our dining room table rather than use his Tripp trapp chair, so for us, I don't think we'd have a problem with that spacing at all (we're going to have an almost two year gap and I'm definitely not buying a second high chair of any sort). I highly recommend the infant insert, our first baby LOVED it and it was very nice to be able to have him sit there and join us at the table. He did not spend hardly any time in any type of "container" just the infant insert and occasional car seat for car rides (also stroller occasionally, but mostly we wore him) but I don't regret this purchase at all and highly recommend it. I think either of our babies would go back to using the chair even when they feel they have outgrown the high chair once we convert it to a chair, so it's still a useful purchase.

I'd absolutely suggest finding a used Tripp trapp. It is so sturdy, and I think a big reason my son has never choked is because this chair forces him to sit upright and his feet are always planted. 100% worth the investment when you are using it multiple times a day. But buy second hand!!

We bought a Tripp Trapp when my son was about 22 months because he refused to sit in his high chair. He has no problem sitting on the Tripp Trapp! (Currently 28 months) I wish we had gotten it sooner.

We have used the trip trap from 5 months until now, almost 4 years old. We use it as kid's chair and love we get her at the perfect comfortable spot.

I am generally very skeptical of cult and expensive baby items, but I love our Stokke chair. It has really come into its own as a toddler chair and the freedom my kid has to get in and out easily has eliminated a lot of dinner time whining!

Same. Ours was a hand-me-down (after being used by 2 kiddos in the previous family). Once we cleaned it, it looked brand new! We've loved how it can adjust/transition alongside our baby boy's stages.

The Tripp Trapp is useable into adulthood! Cleaning takes a minute because of the slots on the frame but I don't find it to be too bad. We have never really used the tray but it is the right height to use at the table, which was important to us. We even got the newborn set so our son was at the table for dinner from 2 days old. Overall, we love our Tripp Trapp and if we have another baby we will def be buying another one.

Thirding this - we bought the tripp trapp when my two were 18 months and 4 after doing some research, still using it now 3 years later and we do have adults use them as well when we need seating or when the kids want to sit in other seats

I have the Tripp Trapp too and while my baby is still too young to use it as a high chair, the infant seat is amazing! We put her in there when we sit at the table for meals and she loves being with us. We've washed the cloth seat once and it was really easy.

We have a small condo so the Tripp trapp is great for our needs. It slides right up to our table and we didn't have to use the tray attachment for very long. My toddler can climb in and out of it himself. We used the new born insert and the infant insert.

We have the Stokke Tripp Trapp and we love it. I often hear folks saying it's hard to clean, but we don't have any issues with it. We got it with all the attachments, and planning to use it for a very long time.

I live in a small 2 bedroom duplex and we have a very small eating nook in our kitchen so the Tripp Trapp is perfect for us. We have the tray but don't even use it because we can pull the chair with the baby seat right up to our table.

I'd always recommend the Tripp Trapp, I picked up ours second hand and my son is still happy to sit in it up at the table now at 2.5. Just picked up another second hand for our new baby coming!

We are really happy with our Stokke if you go this route skip the newborn set and the chair cushions. You just need the baby set (the part that has the straps to secure your baby in). We didn't even get the tray as baby scoots up to the table with us.

We have the Tripp Trapp. I love it. The tray is really easy to clean. The seat is easy-ish to clean. It would be easier if I took out the piece that goes between their legs but I don't do that frequently. One thing I love about the Tripp Trapp was the bassinet attachment. We used that constantly for the first four-ish months (until baby was rolling and trying to sit), so baby could be at the table with us or it the kitchen while doing dishes.

The Tripp Trapp can last much longer than the Antilop. In theory, your child will never grow out of it. In reality, some kids want to switch to a regular chair sooner so once they grow out of the Antilop you'd be fine. From my perspective as someone who works in early intervention and is trained in feeding therapy, a supportive seating arrangement is SO important! So we have the Tripp Trapp for my daughter and kept the baby seat on until she turned 3 a couple weeks ago.

I've also been happy with our Tripp Trapp. Bought a second one for baby #2 on the way, because it so works well for the toddler at the table. We didn't really have any issues with cleaning it. The chair itself is tremendously easy to clean.

This is also the one we went with. Baby hasn't officially started solids yet but we love it so far!

Tripp trapp. We got ours used and know we'd have no problems selling it when no longer needed and that it would retain its value unlike other chairs. I liked that it was wood, simple and very compact. The legs stick out way too far on other chairs. I think all high chairs are a PITA to clean but this was as good as it was going to get. We didn't bother using the tray or cushion. More to clean, and we wanted baby at the table with us.

FYI, Stokke recently redesigned the seat set so the straps are fully removable—I think that should help with the ease of cleaning a lot. I have the Tripp Trapp (no cushion) and I'd rate it an 8/10 in ease of cleaning. I also have the Stokke Clikk at my parent's house and that one is a 10/10 in ease of cleaning (it has the splayed legs, which some people don't love, though we really haven't had issue). Honestly, I love them both.

Love the Tripp trapp so much I have 2! Especially for toddlers it's great. My 3.5 year old just uses the chair now and it's just so nice looking in my kitchen and works great for her. I also have a high chair for the baby. The only downside is the high chair tray does not work with suction cup plates and toys and also the underside is sort of annoying to clean.

We have a Tripp trapp and while it's expensive we definitely love it. It's not difficult to clean imo.

I got the Tripp trapp used and I love it. Our kid can sit at table height and at 20 months, she can climb into the chair. But if I hadn't gotten that one, I'd have gotten the ikea chair for sure.

I have a Tripp trapp and two abbies. I got them all used (paid between 40-100 each). My son is still using the Tripp trapp 5 years later - to the point that we bought a new chair for the baby because he didn't want to give it up.

I bought the catchy food cather and use the original Tripp Trapp tray which is dishwasher safe. I use full front bibs and put the bib under the tray. I cannot recommend catchy enough.

The funny thing about baby stuff is one person's must have the next person hates lol. We love our Tripp trapp. I don't find it hard to clean or adjust and we have a natural wood color one that I think blends in nicely with our other chairs. We used a tray for a bit but mostly just pull our LO up to the table which I love. Also got great use out of the newborn attachment.

we got the stokke trip trap, and with our 99 percentile baby it held her well and sturdy till she was over 1 year old when she just would not sit in it anymore. it's meant to grow with your kid, and supposed to be able to be used as a chair for I think even an adult

My son is 2 yrs 2 months and obsessed with his Tripp trapp. It's like his safe space. With the tray and baby seat on he will climb in it himself and he'll stay put for quite some time on his own. We found it frustrating in the earlier months when dealing with the straps, but we probably had them adjusted wrong. We took the straps off a long time ago.

I'm still using my Tripp Trapp at 3 years old. It's great. The straps do get kinda gross and are not easy to clean (we're not using them anymore, just the chair without the baby seat).

You either get the IKEA antilop or the Stokke Tripp Trapp, there's no in between. The ones with the padded cushions are fine, but now difficult to clean, and food gets in all the crevices.

I have a Tripp Trapp, my parents have the Antilop. Dear god, I hate that Antilop so much. Everyone fucking trips on it. Doesn't matter if it's tucked in the corner, the legs suddenly find their way to trip you. But it is good for the price and easy to clean so there's that. If you have a large dining area, go for the Antilop. If you care about longevity and your toes, go for the Tripp Trapp.

Just get the trip trapp. Easy to clean and it fits at your dining room table so when baby is a little older they can join the table to have dinner with the family

IKEA, under rated. Well, properly rated highly! Great price and it does the job well

We have a Tripp Trapp and it's great for the reasons people have mentioned already. One small downside is that the straps are not well designed and get twisted easily, which is a minor annoyance. But overall it's great and we're happy with it.

I have a 3yo and we've used the Tripp Trapp since she was 6 months old. I found the cushion and harness of the baby set a bit difficult to clean, but the actual wood seat has been great. I like how adjustable it is and it fit nicely in our small dining room.

What kind of budget do you have? We have a tripp trapp and I swear by it but it is quite expensive. My SIL got hers second hand for a fraction of the price.

100% this. I pretty much didn't touch the chair until my baby was 18 months old and could pull it up to the table to eat with us. It's SOOOO hard to clean when you're dealing with purées and messy babies. My oldest is now 2 and it's the best thing ever. I have a feeling we will continue using it daily for years to come.

The real take is that it depends… Do you only plan to use it as a high chair in the baby months and/or you're looking for the easiest to clean? Then it's probably not worth the cost. The baby seat is imo the worst part of the chair, the straps are a pain to clean, and you can't just hose down the whole chair like you could with one that's made of plastic. But if you want something that fits in with your decor, has legs that you're less likely to trip over or stub your toe on, can be pulled right up to the table, then it's worth it.

This is the way! I was gifted a trip Trapp, and it is nice. The new born kit was great, my son uses it as a functional chair and loves it, but the in between learning to eat period was rough and the straps for the high chair mode were awful. For my second we are going to get the ikea one for feeding because it is so easy to just hose it off in the garden. I love the Trip Trapp as a chair, but it's not great for the messiest phase of weaning.

You're paying for aesthetics. I love how ours blends in with the dining area, but it's annoying to clean because the frame is wood and the underside of the tray was designed by someone who hates parents.

I got the Tripp Trapp and probably would not if doing it over. I've gotten used to cleaning it but it is a pain to take apart.

I feel the same - I have the Tripp trapp at home and IKEA at in laws. The Tripp trapp tray suuucks and is hard for my chunky legged baby to get in and out of sometimes. The IKEA one we all trip over

I got the stokke Tripp trapp used. Loved it for the newborn attachment but hate it for everything else. Hard to clean, and now my daughter is boycotting a high chair anyway. If I had a do over I'd just get the cheap IKEA one!

We had a traditional high chair for our first and sprang for the Tripp Trapp for our second. Honestly, I've been underwhelmed. The baby attachment must be meant for very small babies. Our son outgrew it before he could really be trusted to sit in anything unrestrained.

Sameeee. I wouldn't buy it for that amount of money now that I've used it, but it looks nice. I wish the tray was bigger and suction things stuck to it. The straps are hard to clean. Sadly, my kid prefers the regular cheaper IKEA high chair that's at grandma's house and every restaurant out there.

No, you absolutely do not need the Tripp Trapp. It's not even the best high chair, in my opinon. As with all baby products, there are mixed reviews and different products work for different people. But for many, the Mockingbird high chair took everything wrong with the Tripp Trapp, and made it better.

I have a similar relationship with the Tripp Trapp lol. It is so difficult to get my (kinda) chunky guy in and out. I hate that suction things don't work on it… would not really recommend to anyone; it's not "bad" it's just not worth it.

I would avoid the stokke tripp trapp, personally. That thing was sooo hard to clean. I got a mockingbird after and it was way easier to clean but also the seat is kind of reclined?

It's not all that great. The straps were a pain, so my wife wouldn't use them, and then our little guy of course fell out of it one time, really scary but he was ok. When he was 2-3 the design of the thing is kind of treacherous for him to climb in and out of. The tray was a pain to clean (underside is crazy, and it's too big for your sink). Yeah it looks nice but I'd recommend save your money and go for something simpler/cheaper.

Meh Tripp trapp is over priced. We got a color and the paint is all screwed up in the seat area. The straps are really hard to adjust and take off and the tray is a huge PITA to clean underneath. I also hate how every accessory cost extra.

Where are you? Wanna buy mine? I hated the straps so much but allegedly the new ones have improved straps. It's hard to maneuver babies in and out especially if they have thicker thighs. It's supposed to be a buy it for life chair, but my baby started climbing out of it by 12 months, and we soon transitioned to an ingenuity booster after that. She uses the booster still, at nearly 3, and won't even look at the Tripp Trapp.

Controversial but I hate my Tripp Trapp. Tray is garbage - I snapped a piece off trying to get it off on the first day. Also no suction can stick to it which actually has made things difficult for teaching baby solids and him self feeding because I have to just put food on the tray directly one item at a time and it becomes overwhelming for him fast. The underneath also has all these plastic diamond shapes that get gross and are annoying to clean. To adjust you have to take it all apart. Was really annoying when we were trying to figure out best position for baby the first week or so cause it was constant. I got rid of the bottom cushion real fast because it was disgusting after every feed and I was washing it so often that of the time it was not in use anyways. Ie as originally looking at the Bugaboo Giraffe and wish I got that. I had found reviews mentioning the above but disregarded after awhile because so many people love it. These kinda issues may seem small but when it's like 4x the price of other highchairs I don't think you should have annoyances? Bugaboo looks like a dream haha

The Tripp Trapps I got for my twins is still my biggest baby purchase regret! My husband and I did not care for them. Our biggest issue was the trays- they were too small and suctions wouldn't work on them.

Hated the Tripp trapp. It was uncomfortable for my kiddo. He was 99 percentile and it just didn't work.

Meh. If you're in the PNW come pick mine up. My kid hates it and it's too low for our table and it's very over priced and uncomfortable for him. He's hit his various body parts on the wood and cried multiple times. Not worth it in my honest opinion.

I cannot stand my Tripp trapp. It is the hardest thing in the world to clean. They sell that your kid can use it forever but every 3 year old I know just wants to sit in a regular chair anyway.

I have an anti recommendation for the Tripp Trapp. It's so ugly, so hard to clean, so hard to adjust, so expensive. Just don't do it 😫

Hated it and not made for high dining tables. It is such a pain to clean especially the straps and the tray. I sold it and went the traditional route instead.

No it's awful. Impossible to clean, nothing sticks to it, doesn't fold up. Of everything I bought for out bb this is the purchase I regret the most.
