Happy Baby OG

I saw Happy Baby mentioned on this subreddit and got interested after trying slings, wovens, baby ktan, and the ergo original. I disliked them all; either they were too complicated or baby got too hot which made it miserable for the both of us. I didn't want to spend full price on a happy baby before I could try it so I went on the happy baby B/S/T (buy sell trade) group on Facebook (where the owners actually post updates) and I bought a used one locally for about $50 off. The group is obsessed with the carriers (some have several!) but I was really interested in the carriers because they're so thin. I am pleased to say that it is one of my best baby purchases and my 4 mo loves being in it. He is now MUCH cooler than before and I'm not sweating like crazy in it. I use it daily and now suggest this to expecting friends when I see their registry with a standard carrier like Tula or ergo. Hope this helps!

Happy baby og I've had the same one since 2021 and used it for 2 babies now. Its always been so comfy and easy to use (the best of the ones Ive tried). It folds up smallish and it worked my two babies which were different sizes for a while. Love it and its really the only carrier I loved and used religiously. I started using it with my babies around 4 or 5 months with the rolled up blanket hack.

Happy baby original, linen Lightweight, easy to use even with a young baby. I used mine starting at 1 week old. I love how small it folds up, which was nice when I was using it more regularly but has become even more valuable now that it's a backup option for my toddler and I want to be able to stuff it in a bag.

Mine was worth every penny - before it I tried a ring sling and Baby Bjorn and neither felt comfortable to me or baby. Two tips - look for them used online and email the company for a complimentary fitting (10-minutes and life changing, hah).

I found Happy Baby because I was searching for a Florida summer friendly baby carrier. We've had the OG cider since 2018 with our first and soon all 3 babies will have been worn in it.

I am an overweight, petite mom. I also sweat like crazy in the Midwest with same temps. Also has a 2 year old to chase after so we weren't really ever able to escape the heat much. I absolutely loved my Happy Baby carrier. It's not bulky like I felt the Lilliebaby was and it was as cool as wearing a small person could be.

Of the carriers you listed, I only have experience with Happy Baby and I love it! It is structured but not bulky. I can fit it in my diaper bag easily. They come in super cute patterns. Once you have gotten a proper fit, it is really comfortable! Happy Baby also makes an Onbuhimo style carrier which makes it easy to do a back carry once baby is old enough to sit on their own. I can put my baby in a back carry by myself, and it has made life so much easier. Oh, and I'm 5'3, so similar height.

For newborn- solly wrap. We both loved being so close and cozy. After 3 months- happy baby OG. I can get baby in and out in about 30s, she loves it, and my back loves it.

They are absolute worth it for me. One of the most comfortable carriers I've tried and most stylish. I opted against the Revolution just because I've never cared to outward face. It's personal preference, really. Once mine are big enough to be in my back that's where they stay lol

I have a Happy Baby carrier. I got it when my daughter was about 3 months old after failing with the Baby K'tan. I love it. Baby has always loved it. As someone who was new to baby wearing, I found it super easy to use and it feels very secure. I just have the original. Now that we have #2 coming I'll likely get another style. I am 5 months pregnant and can still wear my 20 month old on my back. My husband uses it too. My only "regret" is not getting a light color - we live in a hot climat

I live in Florida and I love the Happy Baby. The apron style is much more forgiving on my back and it's super lightweight to wear and compact in my bag.

Loved ergobaby embrace and now love the Happy Baby OG with my 8 month old! She liked arms out and being able to have more visibility without the discomfort of world facing. It's also so small and easy to take with you, which was important to me. It's a brief adjustment to the H back but I actually found it easier as I can reach over my shoulders

The babywearing sub suggested the Happy Baby OG and I honestly love it! It's so easy to put on/take off, easy to adjust the "seat" portion as baby grows, and I like the sun/wind protector & the ability to secure my purse strap to it.

Happy baby original It is just easy. Takes no adjusting and fidgeting to get it right. Started using it at 2-3 months but wish I'd had it sooner.

Love my Happy Baby carrier. It is linen and way less bulky than others I have tried.

I tried a lot of things before settling on Happy Baby carriers. I didn't like the wrap, sling, ergobaby embrace, lillebaby, or baby k'tan. Happy Baby checked all the boxes for me - soft and comfy, didn't squeeze my postpartum belly, structured without having a billion clips and clasps. I like the tencel and linen fabrics. I was going to suggest happy baby. I live in Las Vegas and it's good for hot weather. I have tried a lot of carriers and this is one of my faves. It's super small for folding up and traveling as well.

The happy baby revolution is a bit more bulky because the padding for forward facing is more substantial in the leg area. The Happy baby Original will be less bulky. They also have the Happy Baby Versa which can be worn cross back. Hope&Plum has a ssc that is worn cross back and is a hemp blend fabric. It doesn't fit baby properly until 4 or 6 months (check website to confirm). I'm very petite like you, and my go to is the Happy Baby Original, even with the H back. I've tried the versa and would recommend that to a petite person wanting an H back carrier.

The Happy Baby website has a link to their official BST Facebook page. It can get a little cult-y feeling in there, but it's reliable for finding used carriers. People can get a little nutty about the terminology and patterns, and it can be intimidating 😅 For the cheaper options, search "play condition" for ones that have superficial stains/tears but are still structurally sound. I had the same complaint as you about my Omni 360, and I ended up buying a barely-used linen/cotton blend OG from the group. I'm super happy with it! It's way less bulky than the Ergo. I still sweat in it when we go out on hot days, but it feels better than sweating in the Ergo, if that makes sense. The linen fabric is much more breathable than the polyester mesh. They do need some breaking in if you buy a new one, but they start out pretty comfortable.

I really like my Happy Baby carrier. My son falls asleep in it instantly and it's fairly simple to adjust and put on.

I have a happy baby that I used when my son was 4 months old and still use sporadically now that he's a big, tall 2 year old. Sometimes he just likes a cuddle and it's very cute and nice. He's always been a 85th percentile weight and 90th percentile height kid.

Babywearing is warm, especially when you're wearing them on your front. That said, a carrier with a thick waistband like artipoppe or wildbird is not going to help. I find apron style carriers like the Integra (particularly the solar) and Happy Baby are cooler than anything with a waterfall waist band. Hemp/cotton/linen blends in the lightest weave possible is the coolest, but those are typically only available in woven wraps or ring slings

I like different carriers for different situations. I have a Lenny light that I loved for front carries and contact napping with a smaller baby. Now that he's bigger and mostly prefers a back carry, I've switched to my happy baby og. I also have a waterproof meh dai for the summer and babywearing at the beach, and a ring sling that's great for extra support on my hip around the house. All to say, it might be worth seeing if you can borrow a few styles, explore a library, or find some second hand

Where in the Deep South are you? I have a lot of carriers and wouldn't mind letting you try them if you were not crazy far but I'm near the Georgia /Alabama state line. My happy baby was great for the summer. It's not as soft as the lark but it's cute and I didn't feel hot. I LOVE my happy baby carriers I decided against the outward facing one. Instead I went for the back carry (onbuhimo). Since my LO is bigger and heavier I find him the most comfortable on my back. I haven't worn him on my front in months If I could do it over again, I'd skip the original completely and just go straight to the onbuhimo. Highly, highly recommend. They take a little bit of practice, but once you have it down they're fantastic

Florida here we use the happy baby linen, we still sweat bc there's no escaping it but it's bareable for us we do walks and the beach.

I have the Happy Baby and it was not supportive enough for me. I can only wear for about 45 minutes before my back starts hurting. Conversely, I can wear the Ergobaby Omni 360 for hours on end indoors or outside without pain, especially in a back carry. My almost 20lb baby feels like nothing. And when you fold it down and use the waist belt to cinch it down, it gets pretty small. I love it, and it's our go-to for long days and hiking. I'm in Tx and it's fairly cool, but if I had it over again, I'd get the Omni Breeze that has integrated mesh panels I think. I do have a Lark on the way, because crossed straps work better for me, so we'll see how that goes. The Ergo can be worn in an H or X strap configuration on your back, where the HappyBaby is only an H, and Lark is only an X. Ergo Omni 360 can do front facing you, front facing the world, hip, and back carries, and it supports up to 45 pounds. I thought I'd only ever use it for hiking or outdoor activities, but it's no more difficult to put on or manage that the HB, so it's become the everyday choice.

I personally did not find the happy baby to be comfortable. No matter what adjustments I did the straps just dug into my shoulders. The panel was always way loose around my baby's neck. It's hard to explain, I know that the carrier isn't supposed to be tight there but it just seemed to provide zero support. I'm pretty active while babywearing so this was a big issue for me. I find the integra to be cooler in the summer and love that it is waterproof and easy to wipe off if it gets dirty.
