This is my holy grail product! I am an exclusive pumper and I use this to lubricate my flanges before pumping for comfort. It's the absolute best product and I use it sometimes as chapstick too
Holy grail product; absolute best for pump flange lubrication; multi-use as chapstick
I'm in the same boat as the other commenter. I only have the jar. I absolutely adore the stuff, though. Took my nipples from blistered to fixed in 4 days.
Adores the product; healed blistered nipples in 4 days β enthusiastic with specific healing timeline
Earth Mama is the best! I had a gnarly cold last week and it cured my red nose from tissues. I also had a cut on my nipple from baby's nails and it healed it in one day! The best
The best; healed nipple cut in one day; multi-use (cured chapped nose)
I loved the Earth Mama Organics nipple butter. A little goes a long way, it's all natural, and it helped my chapped nips so much, haha. I only used a little bit of it because it healed them so quickly. You could probably use the leftovers as diaper balm too, since it has very similar ingredients to the diaper balm they sell.
Loved it; healed chapped nipples quickly; economical (little goes a long way); multi-use
I've been using the Earth Mama Nipple Butter. I didn't have a particular issue with the lanolin but I have NEVER had a cracked nip or pain when pumping for over 13 months while using it. Highly recommend.
Never had cracked nipple or pain over 13 months of pumping β strong preventive track record
I used it all the time! The earth mama stuff was awesome for nipples, but also dry lips, dry knuckles and hands, I used it on my baby's cheeks and feet, or sometimes even as emergency diaper cream. I love that stuff, and a little goes a long way!
Loves the product; multi-use versatility (lips, hands, baby skin, diaper cream); a little goes a long way
EMAB is the best nipple cream! Lanolin is kind of sticky and hard to spread, like old honey. EMAB is nice and smooth, so it doesn't tug at already tender nipples. I would use it with nipple shields if you don't want your bras to get greasy.
Best nipple cream; smooth application that doesn't tug at tender nipples β clear comparison to lanolin
I swear by the earth mama nipple butter! I was in the same situation as you with my wearables and this nipple cream was helping my sanity.
Swears by it; specifically helped with wearable pump discomfort
I don't have any sensitivity to lanolin, but I found it to be the least soothing nipple balm out there. Olive oil or coconut oil worked well in a pinch. But I really loved Earth Mama nipple balm. Lanolin was so thick that it hurt when I applied it. I couldn't get it soft/runny enough to go on smoothly. It also didn't feel that soothing to me compared to the other oils.
Really loved it; much better application than lanolin which hurt to apply
I love Earth Mama's nipple cream- used it after having my son and it was a life saver!
Loves it; life saver after having son β strong endorsement with direct experience
I don't like lanolin that much because it's sooo sticky. It makes my nipples stick to my shirt which is uncomfortable. Earth mama is elite and smells better! It's also great for pumping comfort too (put in flange or on nipple before pumping)
Calls it elite; better smell and texture than lanolin; great for pumping comfort
The Earth Mama butter worked sooo much better for me than the Lanolin. The LC I saw at the hospital preferred it by far as well. I used that in combination with the silverettes and the soreness went away pretty quickly. You just have to remember to keep the silverettes on all the time and make sure you clean any milk residue left on the silverettes before wearing and frequently while wearing to keep the area clean.
Much better than lanolin; LC preferred it; soreness went away quickly in combination with silverettes
I second the mama earth- it's almost instant relief!
Almost instant relief β specific speed of action noted
I loved the Earth Mama Nipple Butter. I'd also put breast milk on my nipples after each feed and let them air dry completely before covering up again.
Loved it; part of a healing routine with breast milk
I use earth mama nipple butter. I've also tried the coboo pumping spray, and bamboobies nipple balm. Earth mama is my favorite as it's not too thick, but still offers enough lubrication for my elastic nipples. The spray wasn't quite enough for me and my nipples became red/irritated when I used it more than every once in a while. It's by far the easiest if the three to use/clean. Bamboobies was my first purchase, it works well but is thick and kind of gloopy is the best way to explain it.
Favorite of three products tried; not too thick, good lubrication for elastic nipples β detailed comparison
That's so funny! I wonder if your skin doesn't like one of the ingredients. I find it super moisturizing and I use it as a pump lubricant as well. I love the cookie smell! Haha. Makes me feel like I'm treating myself even though I hate pumping. Aquaphor and Vaseline always dry my skin out more because as soon as they rub off the dry skin is left underneath and no longer protected. But to each their own!
Finds it super moisturizing, loves the smell, uses as pump lubricant; compares favorably to Aquaphor/Vaseline
I had Earth Mama nipple butter. It's a little expensive but someone got it for me for my baby shower. It worked really well. I didn't nurse/pump for long, but it would've lasted a really long time if I did! I used it for 6 weeks with each kid, 12 weeks total, and barely made a dent in it.
Good value (lasted 12 weeks barely used), worked well, though expensive
Coconut oil for lubing up the flange. Earth mama nipple butter for healing. I was cracked and bleeding mostly due to my baby's lip and tongue tie. Now exclusively pumping for the time being, but both coconut oil and earth mama butter helped tremendously.
Helped tremendously with cracked/bleeding nipples from lip and tongue tie
I always use earth mamas nipple butter when I pump. I put some on the pump parts where my nipple sits and I don't have sore nipples! Hope you figure something out that works for you because that is no fun and will make you want to quit so fast π
Always uses it for pumping; prevents sore nipples when applied to pump parts
Earth mama nipple butter! Lanolin and the silverettes caused me inflammation (unfortunately I'm allergic to the mixed metals in the sterling silver they use)
Chose Earth Mama because lanolin and silverettes caused inflammation β positive by elimination with specific reason
So some people do have a sensitivity to lanolin, which a lot of nipple creams contain. I used Earth Mama and really liked it since I couldn't use the one the hospital provided. I also used coconut oil too! Both worked well. I had a fair amount, since I pumped a lot and it's easier to pump if you use the nipple cream as lubricant on the flanges.
Really liked it; good alternative for lanolin-sensitive users; used as pump lubricant
Earth Mama nipple butter. It's organic, hypoallergenic, and a little goes a long way.
Recommends with specific attributes: organic, hypoallergenic, economical
I've been using the earth mama. Baby had a reaction to the ones with lanolin. I like this one a lot. Not too runny and works good
Likes it a lot; good consistency (not too runny); chosen because baby reacted to lanolin
Can recommend Earth Mama Angel Baby. Lanolin was great for other stuff (underboob rash for instance) but I found it too thick for its intended purpose
Recommends it; lanolin too thick but Earth Mama works for nipples
I think the question could also be: why does your baby like one or the other? I was given lanolin in the hospital when my son was born and he despised the taste of it. It was obvious. I switched to something else (Earth Mama or Honest) and it was a much better experience for both of us.
Much better experience than lanolin; baby accepted the taste
Earth Mama - it doesn't have to be wiped off before nursing and I used silver cups during the very beginning. The lactation consultant I worked with said Lanolin isn't recommended anymore because it can clog the pores in your nipples. She also said coconut oil works well too.
Positive about no-wipe convenience; LC endorsed it over lanolin
I only use my earth mama butter *after* pumping but I do it every time. I use silicone flanges so I don't like having to scrub the oils away
Consistent use after every pump; practical note about silicone flanges
You might have an allergy! I'm allergic to wool and can't use lanolin. I use the earth mama butter.
Good alternative for wool/lanolin allergy sufferers; uses it as primary product
I've been using earth mama nipple butter. But I also bought the silverettes nipple covers and my god they saved my nipples freshly postpartum. I'd freeze them and then put them on when I wasn't feeding and in between feeds. Gave my nipples a break from being touched even by my bra or shirt. Helped them heal better and faster along with nipple cream/butter
Uses Earth Mama as part of healing routine with silverettes; positive but silverettes get more credit
I personally liked earth mama (nice consistency and good have a lanolin sensitivity) and had no issues with it. But above nipple cream would recommend something to physically keep clothing etc off your nipples - I know a lot of people like silverettes but I personally leaked so much they never really worked for me - if you end up not liking them or want to try something different I would highly recommend the Elvie Catch cups! They are very discreet and added bonus if you are a leaker you can sav...
Liked consistency, good for lanolin sensitivity, no issues β positive with caveats about preferring physical barriers
Earth mama worked better for me, but really saved me was my silverettes. Seriously they are magical I HIGHLY recommend. Pricy but worth every penny.
Worked better than alternatives; positive but silverettes get the higher praise
I used earth mama and lanolin both but the most important thing is to make sure you don't receive a counterfeit product. There's been several posts here from moms who received fake earth mama nipple butter from Amazon so be careful when ordering.
Uses both products; warns about counterfeits on Amazon indicating product popularity
I used the earth Mama nipple butter but coconut oil did the same everything else to me sucked and didn't offer enough lubrication!
Used it successfully but found coconut oil equivalent; both better than other options
I mostly used the honest baby one for pumping. I liked earth mama but preferred squeeze tube over jar.
Liked it but has format preference (tube over jar); uses a different product primarily
I prefer the Medela brand lanolin. It's a little more liquid-like but still gives a lot of relief. I have also tried the Earth Mama stuff, which I found smells great but is a little...greasier? I sometimes use it on the inside part of pump flanges where my nipples rub.
Smells great but greasier than preferred; uses it for pump flanges but prefers Medela overall
I use the earth mama balm too for pumping lubrication and the Medela hydrogels when mine were VERY cracked from pumping. The hydrogels unfortunately worked the best for healing for me! I have silverettes too and they honestly didn't do anything for me besides pool milk on my nips and press against them in a non pleasant way
Uses Earth Mama for lubrication but found hydrogels better for healing β mixed endorsement
I have tried earth mama and mother love, motherlove is by far better.
Tried both but clearly prefers Motherlove; Earth Mama is implicitly second-best
earth mama worked for me but smelled NASTYYYYYYY. the scent was so appalling to me that i couldn't use it
Product worked but smell was so bad the user stopped using it β functional but unusable for them
I tried earth mama and LO didn't like the taste. I also tried Lansinoh and currently use Medela. I like Medela the best because it's very thick and feels more protective. I wear a nursing bra with washable nursing pads and apply the cream after each nursing session. You have to keep reapplying. Also you can use it before a shower in you're feeling sensitive to anything touching your nipples.
Baby did not like the taste; switched to Medela which they prefer
Breast milk. It's not a "nipple cream" but it does the same thing. It's free, natural, and no weird smell or flavor for babes. I tried earth mama and lanolin. Babes made faces for both and neither did much for me. The breast milk solved all my problems TBH
Baby disliked taste, product did not help β switched to breast milk instead
Ugh lanolin for pumping sucks. I don't know how you lived with the sticky discomfort. You need a slippery nipple cream like mothers love (olive or coconut oil will do assuming no allergy). I hate the Earth Mama nipple cream, but I like it more than lanolin in a pinch.
Hates it but considers it better than lanolin β clearly negative overall
Around that time, the only thing that helped me was prescription all purpose nipple cream. The APNO was the only thing that allowed my nipples to heal and get to a point where I could just use lanolin. I tried the earth mama nipple cream and that just didn't cut it for me, I needed the lanolin.
Did not cut it; needed prescription APNO and then lanolin instead β Earth Mama insufficient
Earth Mama got like crusty on me and then was sharp little shards in my bra? I must've been doing something wrong. But Lansinoh Lanolin Cream was idiot proof, did it proactively for a couple weeks and never chapped.
Got crusty and created sharp shards in bra β strongly negative physical experience
This. I actually had an allergic reaction to Earth Mama!
Had an allergic reaction β strongly negative personal experience
