We've had the ThermoScan 7+ for almost two years now, I'm impressed with the consistency of the readings and so far I've had no reason to doubt the results it's been giving me: Baby feeling hot? Reading confirmed it. Am *I* feeling like something is coming up? Reading confirmed my temperature is higher than normal.
Two years of use, 'impressed with consistency', gives specific examples of reliability.
In ear Braun was suggested by a pediatrician friend. It's been bang on multiple times
Enthusiastic endorsement backed by pediatrician recommendation and personal experience ('bang on multiple times').
We have the Braun thermoscan 7+ and the readings are very consistent, at worst a reading will be 0.1C lower than the others, but I can take five readings in a row and they'll all show the same.
Specific consistency data (0.1C variance), five readings in a row show same result.
I use this one from Braun and love it. I have a forehead one too and can sympathize with you. The Braun is an ear thermometer and only takes a few seconds. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F4JJH1Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
'Love it', fast reading (few seconds), explicitly preferred over forehead thermometer.
We went through 2 others with the same issues (wildly inaccurate readings 15 degrees apart from each other) to the Braun ThermoScan 5 which is very similar to the link you gave. It's the same one that our doctor's office uses and they recommended it. The others need to be taken off the market.
Tried 2 others that failed, landed on Braun after doctor recommendation. Strong preference.
Yeah.. 95%of the thermometers for sale on Amazon are cheap crap from China. We spent the 60 (iirc) on a braun that actually works.
Strong endorsement after trying cheap alternatives. 'Actually works' implies reliable experience.
We had the same issue for a while, but we've been using a Braun ThermoScan 7 for about a year now and it's been great. Started with it when our son was around 1 year. You can buy the sanitary tips in bulk for super cheap too.
Year-long use, 'been great', practical tip about buying tips in bulk.
We use the Braun Thermoscan 7 and our pediatrician uses the same one and we are happy with it. We did do rectal temp when he was under a year old and we wanted to confirm his temp was accurate. We used the frida one for that.
Pediatrician uses the same model, 'happy with it'. Also cross-validated with rectal.
Braun ThermoScan 7 Digital Ear Thermometer I don't know if shopping links are permitted in this sub. We tested it cvs the other trash thermometers at the pediatricians office against their 200$ braun.
Tested against pediatrician's professional-grade Braun; implies it held up well. Specific model named.
Used the braun precision digital on armpits then used Braun ear. Braun ear is the best.
Direct comparison of methods, declares Braun ear 'the best'.
I use this same one, just buy a pack of like 200/400 covers and we've been set for a few years already. Works a charm, always check both ears, and long battery so far.
Multi-year use, 'works a charm', practical tip about covers and battery life.
I haven't met an accurate forehead thermometer. I have a Braun Thermoscan 7. It's an ear thermometer and it's been very accurate. I recommend that but it's always nice to have a solid oldschool rectal thermometer just in case.
'Very accurate', direct recommendation after dismissing forehead alternatives.
I second the Braun in ear. We switched at about 8 months. We were in the thick of covid and always testing. We don't bother changing the tip every time to be honest.
Regular heavy use during covid, switched to it at 8 months, positive endorsement.
His pediatrician uses a Braun in-ear one and I asked about it one appointment. They said they've found it to be pretty reliable and accurate so that's what I bought
Bought it based on pediatrician's direct endorsement of reliability and accuracy.
I have the same one and I find it to be consistent. I get a baseline for both kids every once in a while. When I take their temps during fevers I always do both ears and retake it if it's really different. TBH I'm looking for a trend not a line in the sand.
Finds it 'consistent', uses it for multiple kids, practical usage pattern described.
I have one of [these](https://www.target.com/p/braun-thermoscan-ear-thermometer-with-exactemp-technology/-/A-16522288)\- it's been great so far. It's quick and easy to use. Not sure how I'd know if it's not accurate? But I think it's as good as you can get for home use.
'Great so far', 'quick and easy'. Minor uncertainty about accuracy but overall positive.
Second the in ear Braun. Most it's off is .2 degrees provided it's pointing in the right way
Positive with specific accuracy detail (.2 degrees off at worst), minor caveat about positioning.
I have the Braun ear one and it seems to be accurate! It doesn't give me the exact same reading if I do multiple readings but it's very close each time. It'll be like 36.5, 36.4 and then 36.6. I feel like that's reasonable.
Specific readings showing consistency (0.1-0.2 variance), considers this reasonable accuracy.
I've had such bad luck with this one. It consistently gives different readings in each ear, and it just gave our son a 98.6 reading when he came up with a 102.2 fever rectally. I don't trust this thing at all
Specific failure: missed a 102.2 fever showing 98.6 instead. 'Don't trust this thing at all.'
