8 months in, still use it every day. I have an "upstairs" pillow and a "downstairs" pillow. I know the My Breast Friend is supposed to be the best, and I imagine it is for breastfeeding. I have the Boppy (one I got as a hand me down, the other that I got myself)- and we use it for SO many things— tummy time, now that baby is sitting, I put it around him sometimes when he's playing and sitting up so I know he won't fall over and crack his head. I feel like I've gotten (and still continue to get) ...
8 months daily use, bought a second one, lists many uses (nursing, tummy time, sitting support, personal use), "most used baby items in my house"
Boppy is the #1 used object in our home. We use it for feeding and for casually holdonh the baby on the lap. We do both breast and formula feeding. It's great to just help you hold the baby and allows to prop it up a bit and have an angle to how you hold the baby (because it's soft and not tied up to you). It really relieves stress from your arms and shoulders helping hold the baby in a good position and focus on feeding.
"#1 used object in our home", relieves arm/shoulder stress, works for both breast and formula feeding — enthusiastic with specific functional benefits
I use a boppy. My son latched best in football hold and that gave me a place to put his head so I didn't have to bear all of weight for extended cluster feeding. My son is 13 months now and we still use a boppy at night because he still loves the side latch.
13 months of continued use, solves specific problem (weight during cluster feeding), supports preferred hold (football), still using for night nursing
Hear me out, the boppy was great for my husband. He's a tall, skinny, bony man, and that thing helped him hold our son comfortably while he rocked. LO never latched so I pumped. It was great to prop him for tummy time, now he's 9 months (7 corrected) and we use it as a lounge cushion for him to drink his own bottle, and then behind him while he practices sitting. TL:DR we had a hundred uses for the boppy outside of breastfeeding, so WORTH IT!
"Hundred uses", husband loved it, 9 months of multi-purpose use (holding, tummy time, lounging, sitting practice). WORTH IT conclusion
We used our boopy sooo much the first few months. My husband used it even more than I did. It really helps make holding the baby while they eat/nap more comfortable.
Heavy use first few months, both parents used it, specifically helpful for feeding and nap comfort
I had no troubles with the boppy and I wasn't small before or after pregnancy. One thing I like about it is that it is still useful almost 3 years later. My daughter calls is her milk pillow and drinks milk laying on it while I read books to her. She props her stuffed animals up with it and plays pretend. The simple shape, I think, lends to a longer useful lifespan than the my breast friend.
3 years of use, still useful for toddler, specific longevity advantage cited over MBF due to simple shape. Direct comparison with concrete detail
I have both my Brest friend and the boppy and use both extensively! Mbf gets a ton of use during the day on the couch while boppy is better suited for the glider in the nursery, the arms make mbf feel quite chunky whereas boppy's squishiness and maneuverability is perfect for those night feeds. LO curls around me and we snuggle through cozy night feeds
Uses both extensively, prefers Boppy for glider/night feeds due to squishiness and maneuverability. Specific use-case differentiation from MBF
I found both the Boppy and My Breast Friend on FB marketplace in like new condition and ended up liking the Boppy more because I didn't need to clip it on and then unclip it with my hands that were still not recovered from pregnancy carpal tunnel. I was really happy I took someone's advice and took the Boppy with me to the hospital as it was so much nicer than trying to stack flat hospital pillows, and I am glad I bought the waterproof cover for it online to ensure the pillow itself didn't get ...
Preferred Boppy over MBF for specific reason (carpal tunnel made clips hard), took to hospital, bought waterproof cover — invested and satisfied user with specific context
I always loved my boppy (and still use it daily at 14 months lol) but I recently watched (hate watched lol) 19 kids and counting and I was blown away with how easily Michelle could just BF while out and about with the my breast friend. Made me wish I'd gotten that instead
Loved Boppy, still using daily at 14 months. But admits wishing she'd gotten MBF for portability. Positive overall but with some regret
Can do without, but boppy also does double as a good tummy time prop and playtime (awake) lounger as well if that helps!
Acknowledges not essential but praises versatility (tummy time, lounger). Practical positive recommendation with caveats
Yes! I had a Boppy, but I used one more similar to the brestfriend style at my lactation consultant appointments and I preferred that style. I very rarely nursed without one, I found trying to hold him on very awkward and difficult and my son had latch problems so just all around not a good combo to go without.
Rarely nursed without a pillow and used Boppy at home, but preferred the MBF-style at LC appointments. Positive about nursing pillows generally, lukewarm on Boppy specifically
i hated the boppy for nursing. however, it was great for the following: tummy time, small kids holding baby, helping baby sit up (all the way supported), helping baby sit with only a little support (the ends of the pillow at babes hips) & for laying her in to bottle feed her when i can't have both hands free (i don't prop feed, i just use one hand and don't have to hold her if i'm too busy) ETA: i have a very short torso, so it was just too bulky for me. it also makes a great plate holder for ...
Hated it for nursing specifically (short torso, too bulky) but lists 5+ other uses and still recommends. Mixed — negative for primary purpose but positive for versatility
