Vtech £50 one from argos, ticks all your boxes - we've been using it for about a year and love it!
"been using it for about a year and love it" — specific duration of use (1 year), enthusiastic with no caveats, ticks all requirements.
Another vote for this one! Battery life is great, we've taken it without the charger (accidentally!) for weekends away but I usually leave it plugged in next to my bed overnight but take it through to the living room for naps and the first part of the night. It's got really good signal, too. We have mega thick walls that the WiFi can't deal with but the monitor works everywhere, even in the garden at the opposite end of the house to her bedroom! We got the £35 one.
"Battery life is great" — survived weekends without charger, excellent signal through thick walls, works in garden at opposite end of house. Specific price (£35). Enthusiastic with concrete evidence of range.
We also got a VTech but the VM3263 and I have zero complaints. It doesn't have an app and doesn't have wifi. It was cheap and does some pretty useful things. The camera swivels remotely, shows the room temp and you can play white noise through it. The battery is mint and the image is clear. I think VTech make some decent options. I've never felt like I've missed out on anything not having an app.
"zero complaints", "battery is mint", "image is clear" — names VM3263, details remote swivel, room temp, white noise features. Explicitly states no FOMO from lacking app. Enthusiastic.
Had a very expensive singing all dancing BT one for our first that broke when they were about 10months old. We picked up a £40 VTech VM3254 one as it was the only one on the shelf that day and it's amazing and still going 3.5 years later! Will use it for our second. The basic VTechs are fab. Agree that sometimes the more low tech option produces less anxiety.
"it's amazing and still going 3.5 years later" — names VM3254, specific price (£40), longevity comparison vs broken BT monitor, will reuse for second child. Strong endorsement.
I got the £60 vtech one from Smyths toys. Battery life is crazy good can go whole evening and still have battery for the next day. Very clear image can see baby breathing and very good range. Just curious why you want a WiFi working one and why connect to phone? I wouldn't recommend the phone only ones my parents bought one it was terrible either had to have it on all the time so picks up every noise and uses a lot of phone power or if you locked your phone it didn't go off when baby did wake.
"Battery life is crazy good", lasts whole evening plus next day, "Very clear image can see baby breathing", "very good range". Specific price (£60 from Smyths). Also warns against phone-only alternatives from direct experience.
We have the vetch vm923 got it from Smyths toys and love it I spent my whole pregnancy researching and trying to find the best and I think basic is the best. It plugs straight in and works, the picture is clear enough I can see the baby breathing and I can use the monitor for 14hrs without it being plugged in.
"love it", "spent my whole pregnancy researching" — 14 hours battery life, picture clear enough to see breathing. Conclusion after extensive research that basic is best.
I got a simple one that can't be hacked and so relieved I did as one time when LO was about 7 months old I was folding washing in another room but had the monitor with me when I noticed he was making sudden movements, I went in as something felt off and he was struggling to clear vomit out of his mouth and nose. I never leave him to sleep without it now as it terrified me, he was so quiet I wouldn't have heard him as quickly as I saw him on the camera. I got a basic one that's currently on off...
Powerful safety anecdote — monitor caught baby struggling with vomit at 7 months that would have been missed by sound alone. Names VTech from Argos, specific use case that proved the monitor's value.
Hahaha it was much cheaper than a proper video monitor - the two pet cams were £36 and the VTech one I got on sale at Tesco's for £20. I love not having to solely rely on WiFi signal, as the VTech one will run anywhere. Made the postnatal anxiety so much better
"I love not having to solely rely on WiFi signal", "will run anywhere", "Made the postnatal anxiety so much better" — specific price (£20 on sale), specific emotional benefit. Strong positive.
Vtech it was £65 from Smyths toys. Battery lasts ages, picture is clear enough to see baby breathe. Comes with a wall mount however Iv never used it as I like to be able tell easily move it around.
Specific price (£65 from Smyths), "Battery lasts ages", picture clarity good enough to see breathing (specific detail), notes wall mount included but prefers portable use.
Super happy with Vtech. We got a RM7766, which we've had for a few years now. You can use it over WiFi or direct to the parent unit. We've also managed to add an additional camera to the parent unit. Could disable the WiFi if you prefer or are concerned about security etc, but I quite like being able to see LO from work!
"Super happy", names RM7766, multi-year use, details WiFi/non-WiFi flexibility, successfully added extra camera. Specific use case of viewing from work.
We bought this v tech one, it's probably mid range in terms of price, but we're really happy with it. No connecting to WiFi, super clear picture and mic, and you can readjust the camera remotely if baby moves out of view https://www.johnlewis.com/vtech-vm7367hd-video-baby-monitor/p112279982?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&s_share=jlappios_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=
Names VM7367HD, "really happy with it", notes super clear picture and mic, remote camera adjustment, no WiFi. Mid-range price acknowledged as worth it.
Thanks all! I got a Vtech VM924 and loving it!😊
Names VM924, "loving it" — confirmed purchase based on thread recommendations.
Love our VTech one tbh. Got a universal arm holder from Amazon for it and it's been amazing
"Love our VTech one", "been amazing" with arm holder accessory. Short but enthusiastic owner endorsement with high community agreement (9 upvotes).
We went more low tech - the VTech VM5467. Plug-in, temperature sensor, good quality video and audio. Would definitely recommend! We considered ones with an app, and more features, but also wanted to feel like we had something we could trust and wouldn't feel like we needed to monitor every second. Some of the more high tech ones inevitably have more things that can go wrong and with that more moments of anxiety!
Names VM5467, "Would definitely recommend!", notes good quality video/audio, temperature sensor. Philosophy of simplicity over smart features to reduce anxiety.
We have a Vtech one and it's great - screen and sound quality are excellent, no connection issues etc. The one we have was on the pricier end (around £150) but Argos have [this similar one](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9527814?storeID=5724&istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=30f62ea9-9626-4cac-97c8-9ff3921f8558&istItemId=pixwamqpw&istBid=t&utm_custom6=LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157%7Cacid:629-618-1342%7Ccid:20378155429%7Cagid:%7Ctid:%7Ccrid:%7Cnw:x%7Crnd...
"it's great - screen and sound quality are excellent, no connection issues". Owns pricier model (~£150) but recommends budget £35 Argos option as comparable. High community agreement (16 upvotes).
We have the VTECH VM3263. It has all of your requirements (I mean the range is fine in our house but we don't have a massive house) plus two way talking and the camera can go up down and almost 360. No recording and I'm not sure what you mean by alerts if it isn't connected to a phone? It does have a little light that lights up if there's noise in the room. The colour of the light depends on the volume of the noise.
Names VM3263, details two-way talk, near-360 camera movement, volume-dependent noise indicator light. Range sufficient for normal house. Meets requirements.
We got the vtech 3258 because it had so many good reviews and it only cost around £50 from smyths. The screen is on the smaller side and it is relatively basic, you can't move the camera remotely for example, but overall it has been fantastic and very reliable. If you can't find the 3258 the other ones with similar numbers (3256, 3254) seem to be very similar
Names VM3258, "fantastic and very reliable", specific price (£50 from Smyths). Notes small screen and no remote pan as limitations but overall positive. Helpful cross-reference to similar models.
We have the Vtech 3250-2. No WiFi, great battery life, and has 2 cameras. We've had it for 10 months now and it still acts like new. We've 2 kids so the two cameras come in super handy, plus it has a patrol mode that changes camera on the parent unit every 10 seconds. Only downside is that you can't remotely move the camera. There's no interference with both cameras being in the same room either!
Specific model (3250-2), 10 months use, "still acts like new", details dual camera patrol mode feature, notes only downside (no remote pan). Overwhelmingly positive with minor caveat.
Yes, I would say it's worth it. Peace of mins, but also can gauge if they need settling or not and avoid unnecessary trips to their room. I recommend the Vtech VM series (Argos sell them) as it doesn't require WiFi, which can be a pain when travelling.
Direct recommendation of VTech VM series, specific benefit noted (no WiFi needed when travelling), practical use case described (avoiding unnecessary trips to room).
We've got the cheap vtech one from argos, I got sick of reading reviews and just went and bought it. Been using it nearly 2 years and have no complaints. I like the fact it doesn't use wifi because it's easy to plug it in on holiday without having to connect it to anything. It handy being able to see if kiddo is having a little moan in his sleep, or a stand up moany protest.
"Been using it nearly 2 years and have no complaints", easy holiday use without WiFi setup, practical use case of distinguishing sleep noises from real wake-ups.
We've got the Vtech RM7766 and it's amazing in the dark. Quite a lot of reviews saying it's poor quality but I don't think they've enabled the auto night vision setting.
Names RM7766, "amazing in the dark", explains that negative reviews likely due to user error with night vision setting. Direct owner who figured out the trick.
Have a cheapish vtech one for 3 years now, it's on its second child, think it was about £40 from argos. I like the fact it doesn't connect to the Internet so can easy take it on caravan holidays etc.
3 years of use across two children, ~£40 from Argos, specific travel use case (caravan holidays without needing internet). Proven durability.
Haven't used it yet as baby isn't here until Monday but a friend recommended the VTECH VM819 2.8" digital video monitor. She's got a 4 month old and has used it pretty much from day one and can't fault it. So far I like it too! Seems super easy to use. Was only about £55 from Mamas and Papas too.
Names VM819, friend's 4-month usage from day one with no faults, easy to use, specific price (£55 from Mamas and Papas). Secondhand direct experience from friend.
Weve got a vtech one and its great. We have got a fancier one with lights and sounds and what not but we dont use them and the cheaper ones do the things we do use, alerts me if he goes over a certain volume, night vision is great etc and it isnt wifi
Owns it ("Weve got"), "its great", notes useful features (volume alerts, great night vision, no WiFi). Practical assessment that basic model suffices.
We've got the 'Vtech VM3254 Full 2.8inch Colour Video Baby Monitor'. Does everything you need it to! I know a lot of people who have this.
Names exact model (VM3254), "Does everything you need it to!", notes widespread adoption among acquaintances.
I have two VTech monitors, I can't see the one I use at home (VM924) in store, but my travel one looks like the VM3254 (bought from FB Marketplace so might be an older version I'm not sure) and while it doesn't have the ability to remotely move the camera, the picture is good and it's super reliable. If needed another I'd probably get another VTech one.
Owns two VTech models (VM924, VM3254-type), "super reliable", good picture, would buy VTech again. Loyalty demonstrated through repeat purchase.
We have [this Vtech](https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9527814) for the same reason. Decent battery life, good camera, and only £45!
Owns it, notes decent battery life, good camera, and specific price point (£45). Positive with concrete value assessment.
I like the one we have as it works without WiFi and can pan with a clear pic. Doesn't work via phone though but thought I'd share as works for us VTech VM924 Video Baby Monitor... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BMVS3WJC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Names VM924, owns it ("the one we have"), notes pan capability and clear picture. Acknowledges no phone connectivity as trade-off. Positive overall.
I use the VTech one that's £45 at Argos. There's a light in the parent unit that shows when it detects noise and it isn't WiFi. I've only used it for shorter stints so far as baby is still in the same room as me so can't tell you how good it is with battery life overnight. I liked that I didn't need my phone for it (may be a disadvantage for some) The sound and video are clear. You can turn off the video to just have sound if you want to save battery in the parent unit or find yourself o...
Detailed feature rundown from owner: £45 price, noise detection light, clear sound/video, talk-back, white noise, video-off mode. Only complaint is bright green LED. Very thorough positive review with one minor annoyance.
I got my vtech one from Argos in 2021 and it's still going strong. Volume buttons can be a bit iffy but I can deal with that haha.
"still going strong" after 4+ years (since 2021), only minor issue is volume buttons. Exceptional longevity with trivial complaint.
We didn't want a smart wifi one. We got the Vtech VM5463 for home. Our monitor just sits on top of a cabinet rather than being wall-mounted so the remote pan has been very handy for when we turn it on and find it's been slightly knocked. We haven't used the nightlight or projection but I like the nice big screen. We got the Vtech VM3263 for the grandparents (looked at Vtech VM3254 but wanted one that had remote pan/tilt/zoom like ours) and it's fine but I found it's much harder to see at-a-gla...
Owns VM5463 and VM3263, compares them directly. Notes remote pan is handy, big screen on VM5463 preferred, VM3263 harder to see. Only downside is green LED. Detailed practical comparison.
I have a BT6000, got it second hand off Vinted for £20 & I can't complain. I bought it based on recommendations from another post here. Non-wifi (which is what I wanted), good sound and video quality, it's easy to position the camera and has a whole bunch of other features I probably won't use 😅
Names BT6000 specifically but this is actually a BT product mention — will categorize under BT instead.
We have the vtech VM924 We had the same sort of requirements, didn't want one over WiFi
Names specific model (VM924), owns it, confirms it meets non-WiFi requirements. Positive but no effusive praise or detailed features noted.
We have the same one, it's great. The one thing I would say is that the thermometer on it is not good. Ours was saying the bedroom was 22°C when the Gro egg said 19.3°C. I borrowed a proper thermometer from work and it was reading the same as the gro egg.
"it's great" overall but notes specific flaw — thermometer reads 3°C too high compared to calibrated instrument. Positive with a concrete caveat.
