If you are a first time mom like me trying to decide what breast pump to get, this is for you. I've been looking at discussions on Spectra or Medela or Wearable pumps? and this is the reddit analysis.
The Big Picture: Traditional vs Wearable
Before we get into specific models, the most important takeaway from Reddit is this: traditional pumps and wearable pumps solve different problems.
I think with the hands-free pumps, you're trading reliability for the convenience of pumping on the go. (It's really sad that tech hasn't evolved more in this area.) If she's looking for something that's easy to clean and works every time, I'd recommend a Spectra. She can buy Freemie cups to attach if she wants to make it handsfree (although she won't be able to wear it out and about).

Second this! Wearables are great for pumping on the go or if i need to relieve engorgement before nursing but the regular pumps are the way to go if you have to pick just one.

S1 vs S2: Get the S1
This comes up in nearly every thread. The S2 works fine but requires a wall outlet. The S1 has a rechargeable battery that lets you pump anywhere. The price difference is small enough that Reddit universally says it's worth it.
